Kind of depends on where you buy the computer. I just bought a new Dell with XP Pro included at no extra charge. It was my choice, Vista or XP. But MS is forcing most of the big "assemblers" to code their pre-installed OS so it only works on the one computer. It didn't use to be that way, so if you have an earlier computer that came with the OS system disks, you may be OK. I have a circa 2002 Gateway with XP Pro, and I think the disks would have worked. But since I bought from Dell, they furnish the OS of my choice, so why not?
