Well there you go, never to old to learn they say, and that now applies to me from your posting. 3,000fps from a Rem .17! I will have to try it, but I have to score knock downs, on point of aim at 250yds plus (English measurements) not sure I will achieve it at 3,000fps! There are many other rifle calibres adequate for the same task at that speed.
And 4831!! Now why would I choose a powder, so slow that I’m not sure my tiny tube will burn it completely, a powder designed, and used to hurl a 500grn bullet from a .460 Weatherby Magnum. I would much prefer to use recommended .17 powders and reduce charges to obtain 3,000fps if that’s where I am happy.
It scares me to use un-documented recipes when reloading, because it’s my face behind the bolt, and I don’t intend to start a new trend in facial piercing.
