The seven village trustees voted Tuesday on the measure. Their decision comes after the U.S. Supreme Court declared the handgun ban in Washington D.C. unconstitutional. Unlike other suburbs, Wilmette officials say they believe they weren't sued by the National Rifle Association because the village stopped enforcing the 1989 ban after the court ruling." This article appeared in the July 26, 2008 edition of The News-Gazette. Here's the first win in Illinois regarding the Supreme courts ruling.
