Global Warming doesn't mean that the whole planet heats up; it's a much more complex phenomenon than that. As you can see, your beloved Pentagon itself forecasts weather perturbations to include a DROP of five or so degrees for North America, with a corresponding rise in temperatures for South America and parts of Africa.
You'll also note that they predict winter storms that increase in intensity, which strikes me as a fair summation of the little old snow that we just had (which is more snow than I've seen in the valley in 22 or so years).
I'd like to think that it's all bad science, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case; if the desert Southwest sees increasing moisture as a result of global climate change it's good for this region in the short term, but it doesn't bode well for mankind as a whole, as best I can tell.

I don't know about all that, John-Henry. If you'd been here in the 70's you'd remember a lot of winters like this. The 80's and 90's seemed strange to me for their lack of snow.
This is more like it!
It's true enough that it's been a hard winter all across the US, and Global warming could very well be contributing to it, but I really can remember winters like this when I was young. Some were even worse, because a 2 foot snow killed most of the mesquite trees around here in '79.
Maybe you remember all the mesquites coming out from the roots when you first got to the valley?
