from a big hairy gun nut. I'm in Mesa at the Hilton until Friday. Wife has meetings every day. Since you're in the Phoenix area, could I impose to ask a favor? Got any suggestions about good gunshops or elsewhere a varminter could go during the day to kill time?
I've been around the board for about 10 years, don't post much. Been killing coyotes since '73. Mouth blown calls until last year when I got a FoxPro FX3 to add a little spice to the calling.
Because of you guys and your admiration of the breed, I finally got an Airedale pup last October. She's now 8 months and 50 pounds. Has the wants to catch and kill furry critters. A red fox went through the yard Sunday afternoon with a ground squirrel in its jaws, I thought she was gonna tear the door down. Didn't turn her out because we just moved in to a new house Wednesday, don't know the neighbors or their dogs yet.
If you wouldn't mind, I could use some suggestions. I'm at 307-322-4570 or I'll check the board in the morning.
Thanks,

Hey John,
One of the better gun shops up that way, in my opinion at least, is Legendary Guns. It's on 19th Ave and Camelback Road. A lot of cowboy guns, but other fine arms as well that you don't see most other places.
There's a Cabelas on the other side of the city. It'd be a haul from Mesa, but their gun room is pretty nice.
There were a few small shops I used to go to, but that was years ago and I'm not sure if they're still around.

Thanks Mark. I found the new Bass Pro this morning. Looked at an $82,000 Perugini & Visini SxS in .470 NE. The engraving was nicely enough done, but was of a Cape Buffalo instead of the magnificent coyote, so I passed on it. Had it been an SxS in .17 Rem it would have found a new home. Just think about how many called doubles a guy could fetch back to the stretchers... Thanks for the reply.

Cabelas is on SR-101 & Glendale. They have a lot of mounts there, its worth the drive to see that.
Sportsman's Warehouse, a couple locations, I-17 & Union Hills. Similar to Bass Pro and Cableas.
Bruno's should be on your list. They are a small shop, but they have tons of reloading stuff there, also barrel blanks, actions, and smithing services if you need them.
21628 North Central Avenue Suite #4 is their addy. Its just off Deer Valley, if you go to Sportsmans Warehouse, you're already pretty close.
If you buzz over to Scottsdale, you can go see Dillion Precision.
Dillon Precision Products, Inc. 8009 E. Dillons Way Scottsdale, AZ 85260 (480) 948-8009
And if you go there, you might as well go here:
Scottsdale Gun Club 14860 N Northsight Blvd Scottsdale, AZ 85260 (480) 348-1111
The above is SUPER EXPENSIVE on retail items. Its where I got my CCW. But they are Class III among other things, so if you want to rent, or buy, a M-16, or if you want your Ruger 22 to be quite like the movies, they can fix you up.
And if you get tired of shopping, or if you want to try out your new firearm, you can run up to Ben Avery shooting range. They are beside Lake Pleasant. Take I17 North to Carefree HWY and turn Left. You cant miss them. They are inexpenisve and they have shotgun trap/skeet/clays, up to 200 yards on rifle/pistol.
Hope this gets you off to a nice start in our city.
