It's a decent call. A little loud and takes a fair amount of practise to get good with it. If you can, get the the lil dog, it's easier to use, and not as loud.

your right it is alittle loud with the horn on. but with the horn on its great for howling and on windy days. remove the horn and i think it works great. but hand calls are too much like work, involves doing something.

It's a really good clear, loud howler when used properly, Make sure you have it at a 45 degree angle to make the howl the best.

Hey BD, you didn't come down with the flu also did you?
I'm still working with mine. I don't really care for the giant air slot on the mouthpiece. It's still giving me a hard time on making consistant calling sounds. I use the "Crit'R Call Song Dog" the most. But I can't howl very well anyway,so WTF.

The I didn't get the crud from dad. But with my hot dog i have to bite the reed alittle and use two hands one on the end and the other over the reed to keep air from escaping

I just got the Double Whammy, great call. Lots of different howl and distress sounds available in there once you get the hang of blowing the reeds indipendantley or simultaneousley to get that sound you're looking for.

Is E. Clampus Vitus still around? I haven't heard anything from those boys in years.
Your "initiation ceremonies" made great barroom conversation back in the day.

Yep, we're still around and it's actually bigger than it's ever been. We've just been trying to keep those notorious initiation antics a bit more out of the public eye to keep from offending the women folk and children of the general public. They just don't need to be subjected to that vulgar stuff.

I got one and have used it on about 5 hunts. It's a decent call, but will take a significant amount of practice to get a quality sound from it. Even now I still get the howl started beautifully, only to hear it sound like a goose honk towards the end.
I'm better at it now, but it definitely took some time. On my most recent hunt, I used it to call back some spooked coyotes (I shot and missed) and called back two of them with a challenge howl. Just after that Arizona's coyote population was one less........
