I don't recall shooting many coyotes with my 17 calibers that left much of a blood trail; typically it's a simple stiff-leg-lights-out affair. However, yesterday morning I poked a broadside standing one at 175 yards that took off like a streak of shit at the impact.
He left quite a blood trail which was good because I had to track him 10 yards in open snow, well, I probably didn't need to track him. It turned out to be a nice size male with good fur suffering from a heart shot.
