Vic has been predator calling for more then 25 years, and even though he's way old he still manages to kill a coyote once in a while, as you can see from these photos. He's got some kind of a Zen Master thing going for him with coyotes, too, because he misses one about as often as I wear a suit, even though he displays no discrimination at all as far as the shots that he takes. Running, standing, 10 yards or 400, he kills coyotes with monotonous regularity. It would be enough to irritate a fella, if he didn't get such a child-like pleasure out of it.
As for myself, I've been fixated on calling coyotes for 17 years or so, and because I've been lucky enough to work in the oilfields of Alaska, and take most winters off, I've managed to kill a few each year, and learn a little bit doing it. What follows is our best effort to tell you what works for us, and why. None of this is graven in stone, but we've played around with this game for a long time, and we've seen more than a few coyotes hit the dirt.
We're going to try to structure this page into sections, and in each section we'll give you our opinion on the best methods, gear, guns, calls, and whatnot to summon and kill a coyote. If you faithfully follow everything we tell you, you might accidentally become as successful as we are.
